i recently aquired a david woltze design 6c33c cathode follower stereo tube amp with 7788 front input stage, it has a single bias meter on front panel that has a scale of 0-100 ma,anyone have an idea of where i should set each tube? i was reading 30-35ma, is this correct? Compared to most power triode tubes the 6C33 has a relatively short service life. The Russian data sheet specifies 750 hours, although in practice you can get up to 2000 hours if all goes well. General characteristics A design note: I would say that the power supply solution chosen to drive the output tubes in the "OTL by unknow Japanese company" and in the "OTL by Yozo Matsuoka from MJ 1995/11" looks a bit strange to me, because it is designed around is a voltage duplicator where there is a secondary with half voltage and 2 diodes.

The data of this tube was much better than anything made before in the west and SanEi of Japan imported some 6C33C tubes for audio application in 1997, renaming them EC33C for the Japanese consumer. Mr. Dakesue in Japan was the first person to design a 6C33C-B OTL power amplifier circuits in 1977. If four 6C33C-B tubes were used in the Futterman OTL, biased at 145 V and 400 mA each, the open-loop output impedance would be 25 Ohms (coincidentally, about the same as the Push-Pull Cathode Follower). The Futterman circuit, and other solutions to driving the SEPP, allow for Class AB operation.

The manufacturer recommends a bias setting of 150mv. Before biasing (once a month), the tubes' measurements rarely deviate more than 10mv over/under the 150mv.
